Q&A

Q. What do you predict the future will look like for clients in the industries you serve?

With technological advances, clients need to make decisions and react to their customers’ needs almost instantly. I advise them on the tax implications of their decisions and provide insight on changing demands to help them respond quickly and stay nimble.

Q. Without naming names, tell us about your favorite client and why you enjoyed working with them.

My favorite client was a family-owned business with multiple layers of complexity. They had a very interesting product, an inspiring business model and the clients themselves were exceptional, charitable-minded people. Working with them involved a lot of business tax planning and business tax planning, as well as providing assistance in wealth preservation.

Q. Describe your work style.

I work hard, but I also think that humor is very important. I think the most important assets we have are our clients and our people. That’s why I always focus on their needs to develop relationships of trust.

Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life?

Both of my parents. My father taught me to have a strong work ethic. He was a butcher who worked long, hard hours to support our family. My mother is one of the most caring people I know, and she taught me to be respectful of others.

Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?

Ask questions and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Taking a proprietary interest in your clients and understanding their needs is the best way to facilitate your own growth.
